Once a tour has started there is not an option to leave the group to take a break.Ģ022 Powerplant Tours Booking Windows and Schedule Restrooms will be made available prior and after the start of each tour. Please wait outside of the entry road inside your vehicles parked to the side of the drive, until directed to enter by your tour guide. Please wait for your tour guide to escort you inside of the secure gated area. Visitors must wear safety equipment supplied by the Corps of Engineers Tour Guide when asked, including but not limited to safety glasses, goggles, and hard hats. Visitors must wear close toe shoes to attend tours. No bags, cases, parcels, cameras, cell phones, purses, backpacks, diaper bags, food, drink, or pets are allowed to enter the facility. All individuals under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. All individuals will be asked to sign in the logbook. State Issued or Federal Issued ID is required to be presented prior to entry for all individuals 18 and over. You are entering a secure facility on this tour.

Our Power Plant is 522 ft long, 163 ft tall, and 134 ft wide on offers 5 power generating turbines that feed power to homes across multiple states. The Garrison Power Plant is one of the many Hydroelectric Plants owned and operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers along the main stem of the Missouri River System. The Garrison Power Plant is located directly below the dam on the West side. The Garrison Dam itself is 2.5 miles long and 210 feet high and. The reservoir known as Lake Sakakawea is 178 miles long and up to 14 miles wide in places. The Garrison Dam was completed in 1954 and holds back the waters of the Missouri River creating the third largest manmade reservoir in the United States.
